PARALLAX

With 5 of our team members being alumni of San Diego State University (SDSU), it is no surprise that our return to San Diego was a very special one for our team. Most notably, for our writer/director Graham, this premiere marked his first return to San Diego since graduation back in 2011. So as one would imagine, this was quite a homecoming for all of us.

The homecoming week started the day before our screening as Graham and our gaffer Christian Butcher spent the day on campus talking with students of the classes that they both once took. Thanks to the help of their former Professor Greg Durbin, Graham and Christian were able to connect with many current students and discuss what their time after college has been like, both in creating Parallaxas well as entering the film industry in general.

Following the day of classroom discussions, the day of our main event had arrived. On Wednesday November 4th, we were set to hold our San Diego Premiere at the UltraStar Cinemas in Mission Valley. Thanks to the help of SDSU mentor, Wally Schlotter, we were able to book this amazing venue which is also host to a number of film festivals in the area.

The activities started off at the Wood Ranch Bar and Grill adjacent to the theatre. From 6-7, our team hosted a free happy hour filled with drinks and appetizers for those who purchased a ticket to join us for the occasion. Our team reunited with a lot of former filmmaking buddies from SDSU and this happy hour was certainly a fun one for everyone all around.

As the happy hour came to a close, our guests headed to the UltraStar for the main event scheduled for 7:30. As guests took their seats, the film had begun for our eleventh time on the year. The crowd at this screening was very receptive throughout the film and we had some great feedback as it came to an end.

Following the film, Graham, Tommy, Christian and our first assistant camera Andrew Ham took the stage for a wonderful Q & A. As our time winded down, it was finally time to go. A great premiere and return to San Diego had come to a close.

Well, sortof. The day following the screening, Graham and Tommy linked up with SDSU alumni Jessica Wimbley for a special interview session with her team at Pixel Studios. This piece is due to be released in the following weeks so we'll naturally keep all of you posted once it is available!

Until next time--
